Phonic and spelling materials for use
from Grade R/0 up to Grade 3 in Home Language Education, from Grade 2 up to Grade 4/5 for Additional Language, as well as
Learning support Education in any other grade.
Set 1 for Grade 0/R
covers the 26 sounds of the alphabet letters.The learners' listening, speaking, reading, writing and language skills are developed.
Set 1 contains: Illustrations, stories, a Fun Book filled with poems, songs, dances, tongue twisters and games with big and small motor skills, work sheets and a frieze.
Method of teaching: Learners look at and discuss the picture.
Learners listen to and discuss story read by educator.
The story is repeated until learners recognise the sound that is highlighted in the story.
Learners indicate the sound when they hear it in the story.
The accompanying rhyme/song or activity is learned or performed.
The name and letter of the sound is presented.
The correct letter formation is taught with an interesting activity.
A task is completed to assess their listening skills.
Sets 2 – 5, for Grades 1 – 3
contains listening and visual exercises, spelling, reading and writing consolidation tasks.
Set 2 – 5 each contains illustrations, stories, key words, a frieze, work sheets, workbooks and other material that give sufficient opportunity to develop and consolidate skills required by the end of the Foundation Phase.
